The five (5) individual contracts for these services were Board approved on 2/21/2006 (Item #47).  The original estimate for these services for the two-year contract period was $15,000,000.00.  The concretable buildings, which were installed at various campuses throughout the District, accounted for approximately seventy percent (70%) of the original estimate.  The volume of work from the Construction and Facilities Services Departments workload had previously increased the need for these services.  An increase of $12,000,000.00, was Board approved on 3/6/2007 (Item #19), in order to meet that need.  A large portion of that $12M increase was utilized for the CTE lab projects.  Per Article 1.1 of these agreements: "This agreement, at the Owner's discretion, is renewable for an additional one-year period at mutually agreed rates and conditions."  Staff is recommending exercising these options to renew these contracts for the additional one-year period.  Therefore, an increase of $10,000,000.00, is needed to fund the subprojects which will be assigned by the Construction and Facilities Services Departments under these contracts.  Funds for this increase are available through individual capital project accounts.

That the extension of the five (5) design/build non-exclusive continuing contacts for an additional one (1)-year period and the amount available be increased by $10,000,000.00 to fund subprojects to be assigned pursuant to the five (5) non-exclusive continuing contracts be approved as presented.
